The first at-home keratin hair treatment! This innovative DIY smoothing solution leaves hair frizz-free for weeks on end, plus shinier, healthier, and more manageable than before. Unlike many in-salon keratin treatments, Gussi ditches the formaldehyde and all other nasty chemicals. Fabulously sleek hair that lasts, all from the comfort of your own bathroom.

For all hair types. Results may vary slightly based on hair texture, coarseness, porosity, and overall hair condition.

Color-safe. For best results, Gussi up prior to coloring hair. You can color your hair immediately after completing the Gussi treatment. If you recently colored your hair, wait at least five washes before applying Gussi's formaldehyde free treatment.

Keep those curls - if you want! Gussi won’t break the bonds of your hair, so your natural texture remains – just with a smoother, more manageable, elongated pattern for the duration of the treatment.You must flat iron hair as the final step to lock in the treatment, but you can then immediately rinse to get those gorg curls back.

How To Use

Wash 2x with Squeaky Clean Priming Shampoo to clarify and prep your hair. If you have very dry or damaged hair, just 1 wash will do it.
Apply Smooth Operator Keratin Treatment, comb thru and let process for ~20-30 minutes.
Rinse your hair with water and towel dry.
Blow dry smooth until hair is completely dry.
Flat iron hair in small sections to activate the frizz-fighting power.

Style however you like! Immediately following your DIY keratin treatment, you’re free to wash, color, heat style, curl your hair and even work out – whatever you and your hair desire.

Easy and effective, but not going to last 6 weeks

I wanted to wait a few weeks before writing a review so I could see how long the results would last and give a more thorough review.
I have mid back length 3C curly, fine hair and a LOT of it. Very prone to frizz and split ends and honestly always looks a mess when natural in the hellish humid Georgia summer. I choose Gussi because I wanted to see if there was a way to get some maintenance for my hair without shelling out $400 on a professional keratin treatment.

The process of actually applying the treatment was pretty straightforward! I followed the instructions exactly and it took about 90 minutes from start to finish. That’s about the same amount of time it takes me to blow dry and straighten my hair normally!!! I did not notice any super unpleasant smells so they definitely reformulated. My hair looked SO good after straightening. I was so impressed, it’s never been that straight, shiny, soft and my highlights were GLOWING. My only regret was not scheduling something afterward so I could show it off!

I would say the first week I was having best hair ever. My curls were lying flatter and my frizz was dramatically reduced. By the end of the second week I noticed that the hair on the top of my head around my face was definitely getting back to its normal frizzy state. I only wash my hair twice a week so I think this is because I workout and sweat a lot so that definitely makes the product dissipate faster. The lengths of my hair are still quite soft and tame though. I also noticed that it made the ends of my hair more brittle. Especially, when I blow dry and straighten. I’m now at the end of week three, and the humidity is definitely overpowering the treatment, and frizz is setting in faster but still more reduced than it was pretreatment. I think I’ll have another week or two of benefits before it’ll be back to normal. I’m going to order another bottle (I have about 1/4 left of the first one) and do it again at the 6 week mark and probably continue for the rest of the summer because it has helped and maybe being consistent will help it last longer than a couple weeks.

This product saved me!

One day my hair just suddenly changed texture! I think it was the color I put on my roots. My hair was super frizzy and kinky and terrible (normally my hair is smooth and fine- it turned rough and really puffy). Works great!

I’ve got very frizzy hair, it’s really long and wavy so right now during these warmer months I get crazy frizz from humidity. This has really helped my hair to calm down, lay flat instead of frizzed and just looks overall shiny without looking greasy. I like that the second one you use is fairly light, it doesn’t feel like you’ve got much in your hair, that being said I like to leave it in and not rinse it as it suggests just because I have dry ends. I did receive this complimentary from gussihair for my honest opinion.

What is keratin and is keratin good for hair?

Keratin is a protein naturally made in the body that makes up your hair, skin, and nails - so yes, keratin is great for your hair! Is keratin good for hair with low porosity, high porosity or normal hair types?

Simple answer, all of the above! Keratin is great for all hair types, however sometimes one’s hair type isn’t able to properly absorb the protein to be able to gain the best results. Our at-home keratin treatment uses hydrolyzed keratin which is a broken down version of the larger protein, allowing for even hair with low porosity to reap the benefits. Hydrolyzed keratin works wonders even if you have damaged hair, since the hydrolyzed keratin would fill in the gaps in the hair strands that have been weakened over time.
